Settings > Recording > Disk Recording
Not only does DLZ Creator support multitrack and stereo recording via USB, but it does so via disk, as well, be it microSD or USB
flash drive. Audio is recorded directly to one or the other (disk destination is mentioned next) with similar options as computer
(USB) recording: stereo or mult stereo. The tapped selection will be a white box with black text
Settings > Recording > Disk Destination
This is simply the place to choose if you want the recording to go to the MicroSD card or USB Flash Drive.
The tapped selection will be a white box with black text.
Settings > Recording > Bypass Processing
This is a true hardware bypass of all processing circuitry to ensure that there is no coloration of the signal if processing
is not needed. When this is engaged [switch to the right, illuminated green], any effects that are added or changed will
have no effect on the signal. This switch simply tells the DLZ Creator to either record or bypass all processing in its recordings.
Settings > Recording > Post-Fader
By default, DLZ Creator recordings are made pre-fader. This means that it routes a copy of the track BEFORE the channel
fader (hence “PRE-fader”) whereas a post-fader send will do this AFTER the channel fader (hence “POST-fader”).
Pre-fader is handy for quick spot-checks of channels, especially ones that have their faders turned down. Utilizing a pre-fader
send is considered advantageous because the signal and channel fader are independent of each other. Raise and lower
the channel fader(s) to heart’s content without changing the level being recorded. It will be recorded at unity gain.
That said, post-fader recordings have their place, too! Also called “After-Fader Listen”, post-fader allows you to hear
the channel levels based upon the fader settings on DLZ Creator. In other words, the audio is recorded at the fader level.
There is no right or wrong setting here. In short, it really comes down to Pre-Fader Listen which means that the channels
are recorded at unity gain regardless of the fader levels versus Post-Fader Listen which means that the channels are recorded
at the fader levels. Pre-fader is often thought of as “the more useful way to mix” (which is why it’s the default), but post-fader
has its place within our family, friends and colleagues. Here, YOU get to choose!
Settings > Recording > Auto-Ducking
Have you been to an event where music was playing, then when someone spoke into the mic, that the music volume
decreased greatly (but was still there)? That’s called “auto-ducking”! It also works when multiple mics and other inputs
are being used... like with DLZ Creator!
When auto-ducking is engaged – switch to the right – the volume of all channels (other than channel 1) are reduced
by 15 dB, so long as a mic signal above –50 dB is present on channel 1. There is a gradual fade in/out; it is not immediate.
The reduction affects mic inputs 2-4, line input channels 5-8, digital stereo channel 9/10 and sample pad channel 11/12.
The multi-track outputs are not affected by the position of the auto-ducking switch. However, the stereo outputs
and stereo recordings are and they are heard via headphones and the main LR output.
As if by magic, once speaking is completed, all of the other channels will return back to their previous levels.
