Sensor cable connections
The
SEC 15
sensor element can be connected to the d-LIST system in various ways.
No prefabrication: Stripping and crimping of sensor element

Prefabrication
CBO 15
: Female crimp connector
CLB 2
and shield connector
SCON 15/1
are already fitted
to the sensor cable

. After removal of the
ESD
protection the connections are made on the connec-
tion module

SECcon 15
: Sensor cables are delivered with pre-fitted connectors and only the connection
with the
CC 15
connection cable remains to be made on site (→ 5.5.1).
5.1
Stripping the sensor element
Cut sensor cable
SEC 15
as described in section 4.1.6 and strip it as follows:
Cut in the cable sheath of the sensor element with a
suitable cable knife approx.
20 cm
from the cable end
360°
. Make sure that the blade of the cable knife only
cuts so deeply that the aluminium shield is cut through.
The flat cable must not be damaged.
Check the position of the ribbon cable in the sensor ele-
ment.
Bend the sensor element upwards and downwards
according to the position of the flat ribbon cable.
Carefully pull off the cable sheath with aluminium shield
in the direction of the cable end and cut off the four
aramid fibres for strain relief with a side cutter.
Cut off the end of the ribbon cable at a
90°
angle.
Important note
Sensor cables
SEC 15
with low smoke sheath material are marked with additional cable imprint
LS
on
the sensor element.
Since the low smoke mixture of the used filling material adheres more strongly to the flat conductor, an intermediate
step is necessary after checking the position of the flat strip and before kinking the cable sheath (→ Step between
*2
and
*3
in 5.1). With the use of a pipe wrench, the cable sheath
must
be pressed in slightly at right angles to the
flat conductor, as shown in the following drawing, in order to loosen the filling mixture from the flat conductor. The
green dashed line in the picture represents the cut of the cable sheath. The sheath can then be removed without
damaging the flat conductor.
