5.2
Crimping the sensing element
The connection between sensor cable
SEC 15
and universal connection module
UCM 15
is established by means
of a female crimp connector
CLB 2
. A
CLCT
crimping tool must be used for this.
Note
The following illustrations show only one type of a
CLCT
crimping tool. Different crimping tools designs
are possible, but the described sequence of the crimping process is identical (→ Refer to the crimping
tool manual for further information).
Crimping procedure:
Crimping tool

:
Move the two outer
crimping plates
towards the top of
the
CLCT
crimping tool (marked red).
Female crimp connector
CLB 2
:
Open the lid of the female crimp connector
CLB 2
so that
the crimp contacts are exposed.
Insert the female crimp connector
CLB 2
laterally into the
crimp opening of the crimping tool
CLCT
and place it on the
two middle crimping fingers of the anvil (marked green).
Note
The female crimp connectors
CLB 2
are already open when delivered, but it may happen that they are
not opened far enough. In this case they must be opened a little further.
Insert sensor cable
SEC 15
:
Insert the straight cut sensor
cable end below the crimp con-
tacts into the female crimp con-
nector
CLB 2
as far as pos-
sible .
Crimping:
Press crimping tool
CLCT
to-
gether up to the stop .
After the tongs have been fully
compressed, the tongs lock
opens automatically.
By closing the lid of the female crimp connector
CLB 2
the crimping process is completed.
