1. Prepare your server and remove the server cover. See “Preparing your server in advance and removing
2. Remove the front bezel. See “Removing the front bezel” on page 55.
3. Remove the front system fan 1. See “Removing the front system fan 1” on page 93.
4. Remove all the installed hot-swap HDDs and dummy trays (if any) from the HDD cage, then disconnect
all the cables from the backplane. See “Removing a hot-swap drive” on page 76.
5. Lift the release latch and slide the HDD cage out of the chassis.

6. Open the plugger that secures the backplane, carefully lift the backplane a little bit up to release it from
the HDD cage, and then remove the backplane.
