Removing the rear system fan
To remove the rear system fan, do the following:
1. Prepare your server and remove the server cover. See “Preparing your server in advance and removing
2. Locate the rear system fan. Then, disconnect the rear system fan cable from the rear system fan
connector on the system board. See “System board components” on page 30.
3. Press the two tabs of the rear system fan towards each other and carefully slide the rear system fan out
of the chassis simultaneously.

4. If you are instructed to return the old rear system fan, follow all packaging instructions and use any
packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.
Installing the rear system fan
To install the rear system fan, do the following:
1. Prepare your server and remove the server cover. See “Preparing your server in advance and removing
2. If needed, remove the rear system fan. See “Removing the rear system fan” on page 96.
