4. Pivot the release button outward and push the tape drive from the rear until it is projected from the front
of the chassis. Then, hold the tape drive and completely slide it out of the chassis.

5. If you are instructed to return the old tape drive, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are supplied to you for shipping.
Installing a tape drive
To install a tape drive, do the following:
1. Prepare your server and remove the server cover. See “Preparing your server in advance and removing
2. Open the front door (available on some models).
3. If needed, remove the old tape drive. See “Removing a tape drive” on page 69.
4. The tape drive must be installed into the lower optical drive bay. If the lower bay is covered by an EMI
shield, remove the front bezel and the EMI shield. See “Removing the front bezel” on page 55 and
“Installing the optical drive” on page 62
