3.1 General safety notes
Caution!
PAULA is a device of protection class 3 which is constructed and tested in accordance with EN 61010-1/IEC
61010-1, Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use and EN
61326-1/ IEC 61326-1, Electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use – EMC requirements.
It also meets the requirements ETSI EN 301489, Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard for radio equip-
ment and services Part 1 and Part 17, ETSI EN303446-1 ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard for com-
bined and/or integrated radio and non-radio equipment. – EMC requirements.
It also complies with EN 62471 / IEC 62471, Photo-biological safety of lamps and lamp systems, and belongs to
the exempt level (no photobiological risk).
Attention!
In order to maintain this condition and to ensure safe operation, the user must follow the instructions and
warnings contained in this user manual.
The instruments and accessories described in this manual have been safety-tested and checked for possible
hazards. The responsible Leica affiliate or the main plant in Wetzlar must be consulted whenever the instru-
ment is altered, modified or used in conjunction with non-Leica components that are outside of the scope of
this manual.
It is not allowed to put the power supplies, PC, or monitor/tablet into the incubator. Only PAULA is appropriate
for this application.
Caution!
Unauthorized alterations to the device or noncompliant use shall void all rights to any warranty claims and
product liability!
In addition to this manual, the safety notes of the other manuals provided must be observed!
Only personnel who has been instructed by authorized Leica personnel may operate the microscope!
PAULAs electrical accessory components are not protected against water. Water can cause electric shock.
Do not plug in or unplug data lines and control circuits unless the instrument is switched off; otherwise, the
instrument may be damaged.
