Checking VHT Pressure Release
CAUTION
To avoid personal injury:
• Do not touch muffler or exhaust pipes while they are hot;
severe burns could result.
1. Park the vehicle on a level ground and set the parking brake.
2. Start the engine and shut off it soon.
3. Check the points as shown in the figures.
4. If the result corresponds to either of the following (a) or (b). (See
page 2-S16.)
a) The clearance
"X" is more than 1 mm (0.04 in.).
b) Spring needs adjusting.

Adjusting Toe-in
1. Park vehicle on a flat place.
2. Turn steering wheel so front wheels are in the straight ahead
position.
3. Lock the park brake and stop the engine.
4. Measure distance between tire beads at front of tire, at hub
height.
5. Measure distance between tire beads at fear of tire, at hub
height.
6. Front distance should be shorter than rear distance. If not,
adjust tie-rod length.

Adjusting procedure
1. Loosen the lock nut (1) and turn the tie-rod (2) to adjust the rod
length until the proper toe-in measurement is obtained.
2. Retighten the lock nut (1).
IMPORTANT
• Keep the length of the left and right tie-rod equal.
