Initial, Moderate and Advanced Kits
Instructions for Use
Warning:
Oral Care should be performed per institutional protocol. All
components within the kit are Single Use

except for the contents of
the Starter Pack (Initial Kit) and Prep Pack (Moderate Kit & Advanced
Kit), which are Single Patient Use and may be reused for up to 24
hours on a single patient. Use carefully for patients with altered levels
of consciousness, may require use of a bite block. Oral Care cleaning
solutions and moisturizers are not included. See graphic on the header
card of the Kit for a recommended order of use of components to
support Initial, Moderate and Advanced versions of a typical oral care
protocol. For convenience, the start time may be entered in the blank
arrow.

Assembly and Use
1. Select

Starter Pack from Kit and open package.
2. Connect stepped adapter of Handle to suction tubing. Attach Y-Adapter
to suction port. Then attach oral care suction tube to one Y-Adapter port
and closed suction tube to the other. (Use the Y-Adapter only if using a
single suction canister for both closed suctioning and oral care.)
3. To store, clip Handle to top of suction tubing in upright position.

Suction handle should be kept for use with all

Contains:
• 1 Self-Cleaning, Covered Yankauer

Assembly and Use
1. Select

Prep Pack from Kit and open package.
2. Connect stepped adapter of Handle to suction tubing. Attach Y-Adapter
to suction port. Then attach oral care suction tube to one Y-Adapter port
and closed suction tube to the other. (Use the Y-Adapter only if using a
single suction canister for both closed suctioning and oral care.)
3. Attach Yankauer to Handle.
4. To store, slide switch to the off position, then clip Handle to top of
suction tubing in upright position.

Yankauer Assembly and Use
(Self-Cleaning, Covered Yankauer in
Moderate and Advanced Kits only)
1. Attach Yankauer to Handle.
2. Slide cleaning sleeve toward Handle

3. To apply suction, slide switch to ON.
4. Suction and clean oral cavity.
5. After suctioning, advance cleaning sleeve toward tip to clean and dry
the Yankauer.
6. With suction still on, immerse Yankauer tip in sterile water or
appropriate solution to clear Yankauer and suction tubing

Slide
switch to OFF. (Switch should remain in OFF position when Yankauer is
not in use.)
7. To store, clip handle to top of suction tubing in upright position.
Note:
Discard Tubing, Y-Adapter, Handle, and Yankauer after using for 24
hours or according to protocol.

Toothbrush and Suction Swab Pack Assembly and Use
1. Select

Toothbrush or Suction Swab Pack from Kit and open
package.
2. Remove Yankauer from Handle and set aside. Attach tool.
3. Pour preferred oral care cleaning solution into empty solution cup
(provided). Moisten tool.
4. To apply suction, slide switch to ON.
5. Clean and suction oral cavity using appropriate tool according to hospital
protocol.
6. Slide switch to OFF.
7. Remove tool from Handle and discard.
8. Reattach Yankauer to handle and clip to suction tubing.
Applicator Swab
1. Remove Applicator Swab and coat with moisturizer.
2. Apply moisturizer to lips and mouth.
3. Discard after use.
