ENGINE START AND SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE
Engine start up
Parking brake system is engaged.
1. Check if gearbox control lever is in neutral.
For the gear box with automated control the rotary
switch is set to position «N».
If the rotary switch is not set to position «N», en-
gine start up is not possible
.
2. If need be (after long-term parking, filter ele-
ment change in fuel filter) pump-through the fuel feed
system with priming pump (see Section 6 «
Mainte-
nance
»).
3. Engage the storage batteries by short-time
clicking the battery switch knob.
4. Turn the ignition key to «ON» position (mo-
tion position). Approximately for 2-3 sec. all pilot lamps
will flash on the instrument panel and the logotype - on
the display (operability control).
If gear box control lever is not in neutral position,
the screen is displayed on the instrument cluster.
5. About EFU readiness for engine start up in the
cold period of time the message signals on the display of
the instrument cluster (see Section 5 «
Vehicle operation in
the cold period of time
»).
At ambient air temperature
minus 20 °С prelim-
inarily warm up the engine with the aid of starting pre-
heater.
6. For the vehicle with mechanical gear box de-
press the clutch panel.
7. Turn the ignition key to position «START»
(
en-
gine start up). With this do not press the fuel feeding pe-
dal.
If in 20 sec. the engine fails to start, interrupt the
start process. Turn the ignition key back to position «0».
Repeat engine start up approximately in 1 min. If after
three trials the engine fails to start, find and eliminate the
trouble.
8. Just after engine work start release the ignition
switch key immediately.
9. Be sure, there’s certain pressure in lubricating
system. After engine start up operate the engine for some
time with a minimum idle speed, till enough oil pressure
is fixed.
Attention!
If oil hazard pressure pilot lamp lightens on in-
strument panel
and intermittent audio signal
sounds; oil pressure in engine lubricating system is be-
low norm-stop the engine and eliminate the trouble.
