In order to bring electrolyte into homogeneous
constitution the topping-up should be carried out on the
vehicle with running engine and switch-on parking brake
system.
Attention!
Use rubber acid-resistant gloves and glass tube
to test the electrolyte level.
To connect/ disconnect storage batteries
Attention!
Do not loose and do not take away terminals of
batteries while engine is working.
Avoid contact of wires from plus terminal with
parts of vehicle frame, otherwise short circuit is possi-
ble.
Disconnecting
the battery, start with plus termi-
nals, then, disconnect negative ones.
Connecting
the battery, start with plus terminals,
then, with minus ones.
Do not confuse polarity of power wires of electric
equipment connected to storage batteries.
Batteries storage
Be sure to connect and disconnect the power sup-
ply wire with consumers disengaged.
For storage, remove the batteries from the truck
(if the truck is going to be out of use for more than 1
month), charge them and keep, if possible, in a dry cool
room at temperature not higher than 0 °С.
The minimum storage temperature should not be
lower than minus 30 °С. Check the electrolyte density
monthly; if decrease by 0,03 g/cm
3
, be sure to charge the
battery.
The maximum suggested storage period for stor-
age batteries w/o additional charging should not exceed
three months.
Do not store batteries discharged, since this leads
to sulfatation of the plates and complete deterioration of
the batteries.
Attention!
Charge the batteries only when they are removed
from the vehicle.
C
harge batteries in rooms with operable ventila-
tion as explosive detonating gas emits during charging.
Do not smoke or allow an open spark or flame in
the vicinity of the battery.
Do not place metal items or tools on batteries.
Exhausted and faulty batteries should be trans-
ported to specialized receiving points.
During maintenance, observe safety rules (see
symbols on body of storage battery).
