Printer failure
Visual and audio signals
Document location
LCD display
Buzzer
LEDs
Input (bins, rear feeders)
In the paper path (magnetic and print modules)
Output (ejection, front stacker, reject bin)
Such failures mainly concern:
•

Magnetic processing (encoding and reading)
•
Thermal
printing
•
Read of the stock control number (SCN option).
3-2-2 Troubleshooting
Method
After identification of the cause of a failure and the items involved, each item is checked in three
stages:
Physical check: drive (wear), sensor (dirt), connector (bad contacts), etc.
Functional test: actuator (solenoid or motor) movement, sensor state (detection level), LED state, etc.
The printer keypad is used for the functional tests. If it is unavailable, the test keypad is used (for use
of the keypad, refer to the printer technical manual).
The following printer components can be tested:
•
Magnetic
module
•
Sensors
•
Motors
•
Solenoids
•
LCD
display
•
Buzzer
•
LEDs
•
Counters.
Use the procedures described in Chapter 2 of this manual and the submenus described in
Chapter 2, sheet A-2 to test the printer components.
