CABLE CONNECTIONS
2.7.1
4863 Connections
The 4863 has two connectors on the rear panel. J1 is the IEEE 488/GPIB
bus connector and J2 is the Digital I/O Connector.
Any standard IEEE 488 bus cable may be used to connect the 4863 to the
bus controller as shown in Figure 2-4. ICS can provide IEEE Bus Cables
with standard double headed connectors or straight-in connectors. Always
use good multi-shielded cables to minimize noise pickup. Limit the total
GPIB bus cable length to 20 meters. Refer to the appendix for a GPIB
signal-pin list if one is needed or contact ICS for more information about
bus cables.

A user generated cable is required to connect the Digital I/O signals to the
external devices or signals. Use the mating connector supplied with the unit
and follow the directions in Section 2.9 to fabricate a digital I/O cable or use
the 4863 Open End Cable, P/N 114508.
