Keeping the Drum
Balanced
When mounting originals, care should be taken so as
not to unbalance the rotating drum. Imbalance can
degrade image quality and, over a long period, can
result in damage to the drum and its bearings.
To avoid imbalance problems, you should follow
these guide lines:
•
Heavy originals should be mounted at the bottom
of the drum.
•
Originals requiring the highest quality scans
should be mounted at the bottom of the drum.
•
Large originals should be counter-balanced by
adding material of the same area and thickness
on the opposite side of the drum.
