Finishing the Installation
Important
Be sure to maintain at least 51 mm (2 inches) of space for the left and right
sides, 76 mm (3 inches) for the front, and 152 mm (6 inches) for the rear of the
system,to allow the cooling system to work properly. Blocking the air vents can
cause overheating, which might result in a malfunction or permanent damage.
Your system unit is now set up, and you are ready to start up your system unit and
configure or install system software. Use the following checklist as a guide.
1. Install the Operating System
If you plan to install AIX on your system unit yourself, refer to the AIX Quick
Installation and Startup Guide for instructions.
2. Configure AIX
If AIX is preinstalled in your system unit, you may start up your system unit now
by pressing the power button on the operator panel. Refer to the AIX Quick
Installation and Startup Guide for instructions on configuring and starting AIX on
your system unit.
3. Install Device Drivers
Some options that you might install come with a diskette that contains device
drivers, configuration files, or test programs. To install these files (after your
operating system is installed), follow the instructions that come with the diskettes.
4. Install application programs
To install application programs on your system unit, follow the instructions
supplied with each application program.
Congratulations! Your system unit is now set up and ready to use.
