v
See
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/storage/disk/ds6000
for
details
about
the
release
level
for
your
operating
system.
Either
you
or
an
IBM
service
support
representative
must
perform
the
following
tasks
to
install
and
configure
a
storage
unit:
1.
Install
the
storage
unit
by
using
the
procedures
in
the
IBM
TotalStorage
DS6000
Installation,
Troubleshooting,
and
Recovery
Guide
.
2.
Define
the
fibre-channel
host
system
with
the
worldwide
port
name
identifiers.
For
the
list
of
worldwide
port
names,
see
“Locating
the
worldwide
port
name
(WWPN),”
on
page
211.
3.
Define
the
fibre-port
configuration
if
you
did
not
do
it
when
you
installed
the
storage
unit
or
fibre-channel
adapters.
4.
Configure
the
host
system
for
the
storage
unit
by
using
the
instructions
in
your
host
system
publications.
Configuration
Requirements
You
must
consider
the
following
configuration
requirements
when
you
attach
a
storage
unit
to
a
Windows
2000
host
system:
v
Version
1.4.0.0
or
later
of
the
SDD
supports
the
Windows
Server
2000
host
system
in
a
clustering
environment.
To
have
failover
protection
on
an
open
system,
the
SDD
requires
at
least
two
paths,
and
SDD
allows
a
maximum
of
32
paths.
See
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/storage/support/software/sdd.html
for
the
most
current
information
about
SDD.
v
Map
to
the
LUNs
for
the
target
volumes
of
the
Windows
2000
host
when
you
need
access
to
the
data
on
the
target
volume.
This
greatly
reduces
the
time
it
takes
for
the
host
system
to
restart.
If
you
do
not
map
the
LUNs
for
the
target
volumes
of
the
Windows
2000
host,
the
system
can
take
up
to
10
minutes
per
Remote
Mirror
and
Copy
target
volume
to
map
the
LUNs.
v
If
you
map
the
LUNs,
perform
the
LUN
mapping
after
the
Remote
Mirror
and
Copy
operation
and
immediately
before
you
access
the
data.
You
must
restart
the
host
system
before
you
can
access
the
data
on
the
target
volume.
v
Perform
the
mapping
when
the
target
volume
is
mapped
to
the
host
through
the
IBM
TotalStorage
DS
Storage
Manager.
