The following notes apply to QSFP transceivers on core routing blades.
v
To connect an ICL between a QSFP on a SAN256B-6 and SAN512B-6 Director core routing blade and a
QSFP on a DCX 8510 Director core routing blade, use the 4x32 Gbps QSFP28 SWL transceiver that
supports 4x32 Gbps and 4x16 Gbps breakout operation. Use the appropriate ICL kit to meet
SAN256B-6 and SAN512B-6 QSFP requirements. Contact your SAN256B-6 and SAN512B-6
representative for ordering information.
v
The 4x32 Gbps breakout operation provides four channels, each operating at 32 Gbps to achieve a 128
Gbps link speed. The 4x16 Gbps breakout operation provides four channels, each operating at 16 Gbps
to achieve a 64 Gbps link speed.
The following notes apply to transceiver cables:
v
Cables come in specific predetermined fixed lengths that are qualified by Brocade. For SFP transceiver
connections, use the appropriate cable with LC connectors to connect between the blade and device.
v
For connecting QSFP transceivers on core routing blades to ICLs, use appropriate QSFP-to-QSFP
standard cable. This cable provides a single quad connector on each end for connecting between
director QSFPs. Twinax active copper and fiber-optic breakout cables are supported.
v
For connecting FC32-64 blade QSFPs to QSFPs, use appropriate fiber optic cable that provides a single
quad connector on each end for connecting between device QSFPs.
v
For connecting FC32-64 blade QSFPs to individual SFP transceivers, use appropriate fiber optic
QSFP-to-SFP breakout cable. This cable provides a single quad connector for the QSFP and four
separate links, each with LC connectors, for connecting to device SFP+ transceivers.
