Operator requirements
The operator must possess the following prerequisites:
-
proper qualification for the role to be performed, obtained through adequate training;
-
legal age;
-
full ability to move, see, hear and speak; hence, free of disturbances, impairments or
permanent disabilities;
-
ability to understand and apply information concerning operational activities and safety
instructions;
-
ability to control emotional impulses and stress related directly to the activity or to
external causes.
-
ability to communicate and collaborate with assistants and maintenance staff, and ability
to coordinate their activity.
The operator must have the necessary knowledge to use the machine correctly, in compliance
with health and safety requirements:
-
detailed knowledge of duties to be performed;
-
knowledge of overall operation of the machine, including limitations of use and controls
concerning the operator-machine interface;
-
knowledge of data, characteristics and procedures that concern the functions of the
operator that will be used by the operator;
-
detailed knowledge of the machine or of parts of it which will undergo work;
-
knowledge of operations, even if temporary, in limited places and points of the machine;
-
knowledge of the meaning of safety warnings and signals;
-
knowledge of the usage conditions of individual safety gear;
-
knowledge of residual risks of the machine;
-
knowledge of safe operating procedures;
-
knowledge of activities with safeties disabled and relative operating procedures;
-
knowledge of prohibited operating procedures;
-
knowledge of safety devices applied to the machine;
-
knowledge of tools, accessories and auxiliary components to be used in performing
activities;
-
knowledge of the exact location of the fire extinguisher.
Operator training
-
hands-on practice of the functional and operational use of controls for the activation of
operating and working functions of the machine;
-
simulation of operating activities so as to become familiar with the use of the machine or
work to be done on it;
-
trial runs of use or application of tools, accessories and auxiliary components;
-
exercises of operational activities with safety devices de-activated;
-
simulation of an emergency situation to practice procedures for restoring functions, after
a safety device has been triggered;
