Collect the following information:

Operating system distribution and version
Look for a file named /etc/

(for example, /etc/redhat-release)

Output from the following commands (performed by root):

cat /proc/meminfo

ps -ef
ifconfig -a
chkconfig -list

Contents of the following files:
/var/log/messages
/etc/modules.conf or /etc/conf.modules
/etc/lilo.conf
/etc/fstab

A list of all third-party hardware and software installed, with versions
•
A detailed description of the problem and any associated error messages
