Removing and replacing a Smart Storage Battery
The server supports two Smart Storage Batteries, one each for the processor mezzanine board and the
system board.
Procedure
1.
Power down the server (
on page 33).
2.
Remove all power:
a.
Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b.
Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3.
Do one of the following:
• Extend the server from the rack (

• Remove the server from the rack (

4.
Remove the access panel (
on page 35).
5.
If installed, do the following:
a.
Remove the air baffle (

b.
Remove the processor mezzanine tray (

c.
Remove the 2P pass-through performance board (

6.
Remove the fan cage (

7.
Disconnect the smart storage battery cable from the system board.
8.
Remove the smart storage battery.
