The protocol attribute of an interface includes the spoofing flag (a letter

parentheses) when the following conditions exist:

The network layer protocol state of the interface is shown as UP.
•
Its link is an on-demand link or not present.
This attribute is typical of interface Null 0 and loopback interfaces.
