Adding and Updating Filesets

Prerequisite
Read the previous section, \Sh utting Down the Net w ork Distribution
Serv er".
Adding New Filesets to an Existing Serv er
1. Run the updist program on the serv er, as describ ed in Step 4 of \Setting
Up a Net w ork Distribution Serv er". Load the new lesets y ou w an t.
2. When the updist program has completed, kill and restart the paren t
netdistd daemon. T o kill the paren t daemon see \Sh utting Down the
Net w ork Distribution Serv er".
T o restart the netdistd daemon, en ter the netdistd command appropriate
to series arc hitecture y ou are distributing.
F or example, to start the netdistd daemon to distribute Series 700
softw are, en ter:
/etc/netdistd -l -f /netdist.700/MAIN.pkg -P 2107
T o start the netdistd daemon to distribute Series 300 or 800 softw are,
en ter:
/etc/netdistd -l lower c ase L
Updating Existing Filesets on the Serv er
1. Sh ut do wn the netdist serv er (see the previous section \Sh utting Down the
Net w ork Distribution Serv er"). If y ou don't sh ut do wn the serv er, y ou might
up date les of a leset that is b eing distributed to a remote system.
2. Run the updist program, as describ ed in Step 4 of \Setting Up a Net w ork
Distribution Serv er" to up date existing lesets with lesets on the up date
source media.
