The
exact
pro cedure

on
the
conguration
of

ordered
a
dev
elopmen

disks

our

orkstation
con
tain
programs
an
data
supplied

y
the
man
ufacturer,
so
b oth
of
these
disks
will
ha

e
to
b e
restored.
If

ou
purc
hased
a
run
time
system,
only
one
disk
(the

ot
disk)
need
b e
restored.
There
are
four
steps
to
the
restoration
pro cess:
1.
Bo ot
the
reco
v
ery
k
ernel
.
This
is
a
sp ecial

ersion
of
HP-UX
that
resides
on
the
Support
T
ap e.
This
pro cess
is
describ ed
in

the

ery

later
in
this
section.
2.
P
erform
a
le
system
c
hec
k
with
fsck .
This
may
solve
y
our
disks'
problems
without
ha
ving
to
go
through
the
rest
of
the
pro cedure.
3.
Bac
k
up
the
disks.
Ev
en
if
the
disks
are
corrupted,
there
may
b e
v
aluable
data
on
them
whic
h
might
b e
restored.
Also,
the
reason
for
the
failure
may
b e
determined
through
an
analysis
of
the
bac
kup.
4.
Select
a
disk
image
to
b e
restored.
A
disk
image
is
a
bit-for-bit
cop
y
of
the
programs
and
data
that
are
on
y
our
disks.
There
are
