2-2 Achieving Good Quality Binding
(1) Requirements for Binding with Good Quality
1.
Tap the book block up and down in the
clamper to ensure that all sheets are
correctly positioned (see drawing 1
below). If this has not been done, glue
will not be applied to the edges of any
sheets which are riding proud of the block
(see drawing 2 below).
2.
Hold the book block by hands to prevent
from curling the bottom of book.(see
drawing 3 below.)
3.
Set up the cover in the correct position.
Improper cover setting cause the cover to
skew.
4.
If a cover is used when the grain direction
of the material is not parallel to the fold-
ing lines, good quality binding will not be
possible.
