GUI
Graphical User Interface. A generic name for any computer interface that substitutes
graphics for characters.
I
Input
A signal fed into a circuit.
IP
Internet Protocol. A standard network protocol that keeps track of the Internetwork
addresses for different nodes, routes outgoing messages, and recognizes incoming
messages. It allows a data packet (datagram) to traverse multiple networks on the way to
its final destination. IP supports higher-level protocols such as TCP and UDP.
IP Address
A unique 32-bit identifier for a specific TCP/IP host computer on a network.

LAN
Local Area Network. A short distance data communications network (typically within
a building or campus) used to link together computers and peripheral devices under some
form of standard control.
LED
Light Emitting Diode. A semiconductor diode that emits light when a current is passed
through it. LEDs are used as sources for optical data link applications in which the data
rates are less than about 500 megabits per second and the transmission distances do not
exceed a few kilometers.

MAC
An electronic serial number unique to the HTRD400 Recorder or each connected
HTCD Digital Camera.
RMA
Return Merchandise Authorization Number. Contact Honeywell Customer Service.
Record Rule
A recording rule defines in detail when and how the recorder should capture
video, audio, and data. See

Recycle Mode
A recording mode in which the recorder overwrites the oldest data with
new data when the hard drive is full.
S
Stop Mode
A recording mode in which recording ceases when the hard drive has filled.

WAN
Wide Area Network. This network uses carrier-provided links to connect dispersed
sites over an extended geographical area.
