Savoy SL & LX 5th Wheel & Travel Trailer
Parking & Leveling
The selected site must be as level as possible. This will ease the leveling process. After backing in or pulling
the recreational vehicle into the selected site, set the parking brake, turn the ignition switch OFF and proceed as
follows:
Fifth Wheel Operation:
• Securely chock all wheels of the recreational vehicle to prevent movement.
• Lower the landing gear (see “LANDING LEGS”). Wooden blocks may be placed
under the jack legs to assist in the leveling process.
• Pull out the left and right jack leg locking pins and allow the legs to rest on the
ground or wooden blocks.
• Pick up the legs and secure them with the lock pins into the first available set of
holes.
• Unhook the 12 Volt connector and the breakaway switch cable from the tow
vehicle.
• Activate the power jack switch, or use the hand crank, to slightly raise the front of
the recreational vehicle hitch to relieve the hitch pressure.
• Release the hitch latch disengaging the locking bar. If applicable, slightly rock the tow vehicle in reverse
to disengage locking bar.
• Pull forward slightly and raise the recreational vehicle hitch to clear the tow vehicle hitch.
• Open the tow vehicle tailgate if no special tailgate exists.
• Move the tow vehicle away from the recreational vehicle.
• Adjust the recreational vehicle front jacks to level the recreational vehicle front to rear. This will require
a small level to be placed in the storage compartment below the controls. Many camping stores and RV
dealerships carry small leveling vials that may be attached to the recreational vehicle.
• Lower stabilizing jacks until the jacks contact the ground or wooden blocks.
The stabilizer jacks are not
to be used for leveling.
• Connect the 120 Volt AC shore power.
• Open the LP-Gas valves at the LP tanks.
• Connect the fresh water supply and the water systems if necessary.
• If applicable, start the refrigerator, water heater and furnace.
NOTE:
In extreme cases the use of leveling ramps under the tires may be necessary to level the
recreational vehicle.
Travel Trailer Operation:
• Securely chock all wheels of the travel trailer to prevent movement.
• Unhook the 12 Volt connector and the breakaway switch cable from the tow vehicle.
• Disconnect the jack leg to rest on the ground or on a wooden block. Wooden blocks may be placed under
the jack leg to assist the leveling process.
• Release the hitch latch and raise the trailer coupler to clear the vehicle hitch.
• Move the tow vehicle away from the travel trailer.
• Adjust the travel trailer front jacks to level the travel trailer front to rear. This will require a small level to
be placed in the storage compartment below the controls. Many camping stores and RV dealerships carry
small leveling vials that may be attached to the travel trailer.
• Lower stabilizing jacks until the jacks contact the ground or wooden blocks.
The stabilizer jacks should
not be used for leveling on uneven ground or to change tires.
