4.8
Ultrasonic detector
On the outer side of the rim the machine has an
ultrasound detector for the wheel width (
Fig. 4-23b
).
The sonar has a tolerance of +/- 0.5’’.
Such tolerance does not jeopardise the accuracy
of the balancing
4.9 Laser (Pointer / Scanner)
Figure 4-24
The machine has a laser scanner to
automatically acquire the wheel distance and diameter
(inside of rim).
The machine uses the
Laser Pointer
to indicate the
precise point for fitting the stick-on weights on the rim
(
5.9). The internal scanner also performs the rim
run-out.
Note
:
If the machine is set in Gauge arm mode as default, the
Laser Pointer mode can be activated by calling service.
Figure 4-25
The machine is equipped with a rear Laser
scanner for automatic reading of wheel run-out.
Prolonged exposure to laser beams may damage
the eyes.
CAUTION
:
AVOID DIRECT OR REFLECTED
EYE CONTACT WITH THE LASER BEAM
.
•
Laser beams used in Snap-on products are rated
as Class II.
Eye protection is normally ensured by eye defence
responses, including the blink reflex.
