MAINTENANCE

Change Coolant
--- every 2000 hours or two years
d
CAUTION: Do not remove the radiator cap (1) until
the coolant temperature in the radiator is cool.
Hot steam may spout out, possibly causing severe
burns. After the coolant temperature cools, slowly
loosen cap (1) to release the inside air pressure
before removing cap (1).
IMPORTANT: Use Hitachi genuine coolant. Change the
coolant every two years or 2000 hours whichever
comes first.
1. Park the machine following the same procedures as
described on page 7-8 for preparation of inspection/
maintenance work.
2. Install articulation stopper (lock bar) to the front
and rear of the chassis by following the procedures
described on page 7-10.
3. Loosen radiator drain plug (2) and drain coolant into
a suitable container (approx. 50 liters).
IMPORTANT: Do not open radiator cap (1) before
draining coolant to prevent overflowing coolant
due to the vertical interval between the expansion
tank and the radiator.
4. Slowly turn and remove expansion tank cap (3).
5. Close drain plug (2).
Supply low impurity soft water or tap water into
expansion tank (4) to the FULL level of sight gauge
(5). When adding coolant, do so slowly to avoid
mixing air in the system.
Check the water level after three minutes, and add if
necessary.
6. Start and idle the engine for 5 minutes with
expansion tank cap (3) opened.
Stop the engine and wait until the engine has cooled.
Check the water level and add if necessary.
