REPLACEMENT OR INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL OF PACKET SWITCHING
UNITS
The same method of installing or replacing a Packet Switching Unit (PSU) applies for all
GS4000 models.
You can install or replace a PSU without powering off the device. When installing or replacing
a PSU into or from the device while powered on, you must input the required command from
an operation terminal. As for the command to be input, refer to the

WARNING: THE REPLACEMENT OF A PACKET SWITCHING UNIT SHOULD BE DONE BY A
TRAINED ENGINEER OR A QUALIFIED MAINTENANCE PERSON.

Caution: Do not touch the electronic components on the solder side of a Packet
Switching Unit. To avoid damage, always store these components in
approved anti-static bags.

NOTE: When installing another Packet Switching Unit, remove the dummy panel.
Store the removed dummy panel safely, so that it doesn’t get bent or lost.
(1) Detachment of A Packet Switching Unit
Comply with the following procedure when removing a Packet Switching Unit.
Step 1
Remove all the network interface boards from the PSU targeted for replacement. For
the detachment of a network interface board, refer to the section 5.7 Replacement or
Installation of Additional Network Interface Boards.)
Step 2
Loosen the screws of the Packet Switching Unit.
