Chapter 5: Calibration and Verification
4. Specify the settings for the new calibration.
• Press
Num. Points
to set the number of calibration points (1 to 6). In TC/TOC calibration mode,
you will be asked to enter the number of IC points and the number of TOC points. To create a TC/
TOC calibration curve, you are able to run a multi point IC curve and multi point TOC curve in one
protocol. The IC number should be the number of IC points you will analyze
.
• Press
Range
to specify the range for this calibration.
• Press the
Acid
and/or
Oxidizer
buttons to change the percentage of each reagent that will be
added.
• Press
Auto Dilut.
to specify whether the Auto Dilution feature should be set to
On
or
Off
.
• Press
Sparge
, if applicable, to change the sparging time.
• Press
Blank Correction
to specify whether the blank correction feature should be set to
On
or
Off
. Blank correction is unavailable if reagent water is selected as the first point in a multi-point
calibration.
5. Press the
Next
button to specify the settings for the first calibration point (Point 1). The first point has to
have the lowest concentration, and the concentration of each subsequent point has to be greater than
the preceding points.
• If Auto Dilution is on, enter the
Standard Concentration
. Enter a value with up to two decimal
places, such as
1000.50
.
• Press the
Point
button to set the NPOC, TOC or IC standard concentration for the calibration point.
Enter a value with up to two decimal places, such as
1.25
. The type of standard is shown in gray at
the bottom of the screen (e.g., NPOC Standard, IC Standard, Rinse or TOC Standard).
• Press the
Reps
button to change the number of measurements (repetitions) the Analyzer will make
for this calibration point (see
• Press the
Rejects
button to change the number of measurements the Analyzer should exclude from
its calculations. The number of rejects must be less than the number of repetitions.
• Press the
Sample Flush
button to change the number of sample flushes to be performed before
measurement of the standard.
• Press
Repeat Criteria
to turn this feature
ON
or
OFF
. Explanation of this feature can be found in
Chapter 6 of this manual.
6. Press the
Next
button if you specified more than one calibration point. Specify the settings indicated in
Step
. If you have entered the settings for the last calibration point, press the
Save
button to continue.
In TC/TOC calibration mode, you will first enter the IC standards, a rinse vial will automatically be
inserted into the protocol to mitigate concentration step changes, and then you will enter the TOC
standards. The box in the lower-left corner of the screen will tell you what type of sample is expected
(e.g., NPOC Standard, IC Standard, Rinse or TOC Standard).
N
OTE
:
In TC/TOC calibration mode, the user will set up the number of TOC points and IC points
independently. Also, there should be a rinse vial measuring NPOC between the IC and the TOC vials;
but if there are no IC vials, the rinse vial is not needed.
