Note
If the water used for the machine has a very high mineral content (4 or 5), you
should change the water filter more frequently (see: ‘Inserting or Changing the
Water Filter’ and ‘Descaling the Machine’). Contact the water works or the bott-
ling plant in charge for information on the water hardness of your water. At the
latest, you should install a new water filter after performing the descaling process
for the third time. Visit www.gastroback.de or call your vendor to purchase the
designated water filter.
1. Remove the water tank at the rear of the machine by grasping the water tank at
both sides and pulling the water tank upwards and out. Empty the water tank.
2. Pull the water filter out of the water tank. If required, replace the water filter (after
every third descaling process).
3. Rinse the water filter with cold water.
4. Wash the water tank and water tank lid with warm water and a soft nylon brush.
Then wipe dry the exterior of the water tank and water tank lid thoroughly.
5. To install the water filter in the water tank, align the circular opening at the base
of the water filter with the valve inside the water tank and push down the water
filter gently.
6. Fill the water tank up to the MAX filling level and slide the water tank down at
the rear of the machine. Gently push down the water tank. The valve at the bot-
tom of the water tank will open automatically.
CLEANING THE STEAM WAND
WARNING – RISK OF BURNS:
During use and even shortly thereafter, hot
water and steam could escape from the steam wand and the metal parts of the
steam wand will be hot. Do not touch the metal parts of the steam wand with your
skin or any delicate objects, while the steam wand is still hot. Ensure that the steam
wand always points to the drip tray, when not in use.
Note
Immediately after texturing milk, wipe residues of milk from the steam wand (see
below: ‘Immediately After Use’). Additionally, regularly follow the instructions on
thorough cleaning of the steam wand (see: ‘Soaking the Steam Wand’) to ensure
long-lasting high performance of the steam wand.
