After every third descaling process, you should change the water filter (see: ‘Inserting
or Changing the Water Filter’).
Note
The manufacturer will not be liable for any damage to the appliance caused by
excessive build-up of scale.
1. Switch off the appliance via the power button. Then clean the appliance (see:
‘Care and Cleaning’).
2. Pull the water tank upwards and out of the appliance and empty the water tank.
Pull the water filter out of the water tank. Prepare the descaling solution. Rinse
the water tank with clear tap water. Then fill the descaling solution into the water
tank.
3. Slide the water tank down at the rear of the appliance to re-install the water tank.
Ensure that the drip tray is inserted correctly and empty. Insert a filter basket into
the portafilter and assemble the portafilter at the group head, but WITHOUT
coffee powder.
4. Switch on the appliance and wait until the power button is illuminated continu-
ously.
5. Place a heat-resistant bowl of sufficient size below the group head and direct the
steam wand into the bowl. Press the 2 cups button and wait for the appliance
to complete the function. Operate the 2 cups brewing function a second time.
6. Ensure that the steam wand is pointing into the bowl. Then turn the hot water/
steam switch clockwise to start the hot water function. Leave the appliance ope-
rate for approx. 20 seconds. Then turn the hot water/steam switch back to the
vertical position to stop the function. Empty the bowl.
7. Repeat the steps 5 and 6 until the WATER LOW indicator illuminates.
8. Press the power button to switch off the appliance. Pull out the water tank and
empty the water tank completely. Then rinse the water tank thoroughly with clear,
cold water. Fill the water tank with cold water and repeat the steps 3 to 7.
