Immediately After Use
WARNING:
Shortly after operation of the steam wand, hot steam and hot
water may escape from the steam wand and the steam wand will be hot. Ensure
not to touch the steam wand with your skin to avoid scalding.
Note
After texturing milk, to maintain good performance of the steam wand, always
immediately wipe off residues of milk from the steam wand. Otherwise, the milk
texturing performance may be affected due to blockage of the steam nozzle within
the steam wand tip. Additionally, the milk could get a stale taste.
1. After each usage, carefully wipe the steam wand tip using a soft moist cloth.
Ensure not to touch the metal parts of the steam wand with your skin.
2. Then, by the handle, turn the steam wand to the drip tray.
3. Shortly turn the hot water/steam switch clockwise to purge the steam wand via a
short steam blast. Then turn the hot water/steam switch back to the vertical position.
Note
When texturing milk, even with the nozzle blocked only partially the ability of the
steam wand to produce a sufficient froth volume may be affect. If the water only
drips from the steam wand, the nozzle in the steam wand tip may be clogged.
Proceed according to the following instructions to remove the obstacle. However,
in any case, you should perform thorough cleaning regularly (see: ‘Soaking the
Steam Wand’).
Removing Obstacles from the Steam Wand Tip
4. After usage, wait for some minutes until the steam wand cooled down. Carefully
check, whether the steam wand is still hot to the touch.
5. Remove the stainless steel sleeve by pulling it down. You may find it easier to
remove the stainless steel sleeve, when turning it to and fro.
6. Insert the coarse pin of the cleaning tool (labelled as STEAM) carefully into the
central opening of the steam wand tip to remove any obstacles. Thereafter, turn
the steam wand over the drip tray.
7. Keep your hands away from the steam wand and turn the hot water/steam
switch clockwise to give off some steam or hot water for purging the opening in
the steam wand tip.
