3. If required (low or medium water hardness), set the water hardness of the water
you are using with the appliance (see: ‘Adjusting the Water Hardness’).
SOLVING PROBLEMS
If any problems occur during operation, you will find the solution in this chapter.
Problem

Emergency stop?
Press the power button (power button gets dark), then
unplug.
The appliance
does not work.
The appliance is not live or
switched off.
Ensure that the power supply outlet is live. Connect a
lamp. After approx. 20 minutes of being idle, the appli-
ance will switch off automatically. Press the power button
to switch on the appliance.
The appliance did not reach
the correct operating tem-
perature (power button is
flashing).
Wait until the power button is illuminated continuously.
Then try again.
Not enough water in the
water tank (WATER LOW is
illuminated).
The water tank must be filled with at least 250ml of
water. If required, fill the water tank. Then try again.
The water tank is not instal-
led correctly (WATER LOW is
illuminated).
Ensure that the water tank is installed correctly at the rear
of the appliance. Without violence push the water tank
down.
During heating, the hot
water/steam switch is in
the horizontal operating
position (all buttons flas-
hing).
While the appliance is heating, the hot water/steam func-
tions are not available. Turn the hot water/steam switch
back to the vertical position and wait, until the power
button is illuminated continuously. Then try again.
A severe problem
occurred (all buttons flashing).
Get in contact with an authorized service
centre for examination and repair.
The appliance is
live and switched
on (power button
is illuminated con-
tinuously), but the
brewing functions
are not working.
The steam function is
selected (seam button is
illuminated).
For generating steam, the appliance increases the water
temperature. Thus, with the steam function selected
(steam button is illuminated), the brewing functions are
not available. Switch off the steam function and cool
down the water system manually (see: ‘Cooling Down to
Brewing Temperature’).
