4.4 Quality Assurance of the Ointments
Simple test methods convincingly demonstrate the good homogenizing capability of
the UNGUATOR
®
Mixing System. The test is performed using analog formulations
with colored powders such as iron oxide (red/hydrophilic, yellow/hydrophobic) or Su-
dan red and riboflavin [2] or methylene blue [4]. Here the examination of ointment
streaks from various levels of the mixing jar using a magnifying glass or microscope
have demonstrated the success of the mixing process, as has viewing one or more
sections of an “ointment block” that can be pressed out of the UNGUATOR
®
Jar as a
whole after it was placed into a freezer overnight. “Mixing up” such analog formulations
not only ensures that UNGUATOR
®
Mixing System is being used correctly: it also allows
our customers to build up trust in the modern UNGUATOR
®
