Description
Video image of the spec-
imen
The specimen is shown in the video window inside the
WinFTM main window.
Scaled crosshairs
Scaled crosshairs are electronically inserted into the video
image. They show the real size and position of the
measurement spot on the surface of the specimen. The
color of the crosshairs is selectable.
Auto-focus (on models
with motor-driven z-axis)
The detector unit moves up and down automatically. The
auto-focus function allows a significantly more precise
setting of the measurement distance than subjective
manual focusing. Thus, the reproducibility of the measure-
ment result is increased.
Measurement of the
distance between the test
spot and the detector /
DCM method
Focusing the video image provides the correct measuring
distance. WinFTM takes into account these distance
values, when computing the coating thickness measure-
ment data, using the DCM Method (Distance Controlled
Measurement).
This allows for automated testing of complex surface
geometries and measurements in recesses.
Displaying programmed
points in the video image
(on models with motor-
driven XY-stage)
You can display programmed points in the video image.
Software-based video
zoom function
You can zoom the video image in steps of 100, 200, 300
and 400 percent. Additionally, you can display the video
image in full screen mode.
Saving video images
together with the
measured values
You can edit the video image with a graphic program of
your choice e.g. for adding comments or dimensions. When
you save the video image, it will be assigned to your
measured values. Additional text notes will be stored,
linked to the video image.
Recognition of vertical or
horizontal strips (on
models with motor-driven
XY-stage)
The instrument can recognize strip structures on speci-
mens and readjust the XY position along this structure.
Thus, you can make sure that on specimens with geometric
tolerances, the measurement is always performed at the
correct position.
