Port Information
When to Use
To display the port type, status, link state, and flow control in use, as well as the communication
speed and duplex mode. To change any of the port settings, refer to the Port Configuration screen
description,
Section 7.2
. The parameters shown in
Figure 7-3
and
Table 7-3
are for the RJ45 front
panel ports.
How to Access
Use the arrow keys to highlight the
Port Information
menu item on the Device Control Menu
screen and press ENTER. The Port Information screen,
Figure 7-3
, displays.
Flow Control
Enable or disable flow control. Flow control can eliminate frame loss by
“blocking” traffic from end stations or segments connected directly to the
switch when its buffers fill. Back pressure is used for half duplex and IEEE
802.3x for full duplex. Do not use flow control if a port is connected to a
hub. The default is DISABLED.
Speed and
Duplex
Set the current port speed, duplex mode, and auto-negotiation.
(Auto-negotiation is not available for 100Base-FX ports.) The default is
AUTO.
