System Connections and Data Flow
The following sub-sections describe the connections and data flow for the 6205s2 System.
4.2.1
Ethernet LAN Connections
The Ethernet LAN connection from the sonar head to the 6205s2 topside interface is made using a physical
wired connection via the standard 20m (65 ft) Deck Cable. The 6205s2 sonar interface connects to a
topside computer via a standard RJ-45 ethernet plug. The (default) correct IP addresses for the sonar head
and topside computer are as follows:
Standard Configuration:
•
Sonar Head IP Address =
192.9.0.101
•
Topside Computer IP Address =
192.9.0.99
NOTE:
Factory defaults for the 6205s2 Sonar head IP address is
192.9.0.101 and should not be changed for any reason. The optional
laptop will also be preconfigured to 192.9.0.99 on delivery from
EdgeTech. When the customer supplies their own topside computer, the
IP address needs to be set to an address similar to the above.
Options:
•
SBG Ekinox =
192.9.0.51
•
Septentrio GNSS =
192.9.0.50
The 6205s2 can receive data from supporting sensors via the ethernet connection utilizing UDP. Refer to
section of the manual for more information on configuring 6205s2 for UDP data
transfer.
Optionally, when the system includes the OEM SBG, there is no need, in a loop-back style, to send
time/position/attitude to the sonar as the INS data is internally transferred via the ethernet connection.
4.2.2
Serial Port Connections
There are three RS-232 serial ports provided on the 6205s2 Sonar Interface box. COM1 and COM2 have
been configured for high speed and high accuracy). COM3 is configured for standard RS-232 serial
connections. Typical latencies for the high speed/high accuracy ports are less than 100us, whereas the
standard serial port has up to 100ms.
These serial ports are provided to intake the navigation, heading, and attitude (roll, pitch, and heave) data
from the supporting sensors. The
CONFIGURING
COM
PORTS
section of this manual has instructions to
configure them.
