MAINTENANCE
The 6205s2 Sonar Head is not designed for long-term deployments, and it is not recommended to keep
the system in water for more than two weeks at a time, especially in warm, salty waters.
After each mission, the system should be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water, making sure to rinse the
SVS, which is mounted onto the connector nose cap, and connectors at the back.
EdgeTech recommends regularly checking the array faces. Fouling and corrosion may degrade the 6205s2
system's measurements and/or the sound velocity sensor at the bottom of the Sonar Head. If fouling is
observed, clean the sonar head using a washcloth with mild soap and freshwater. The SVS, mounted onto
the connector nose cap, should be regularly inspected, cleaned, and re-calibrated according to the
manufacturer’s guidelines.
Contact
as soon as possible when any damage is observed.
CAUTION!
The 6205s2 system should NEVER be turned on and left
powered on when the sonar head is not submerged in water because the
unit will, in all likelihood, overheat, causing permanent damage (despite
a basic protection system). In limited circumstances, the 6205s2 can be
turned on but only with the Tx Power OFF (see Discover Bathymetric) to
quickly test the system before deployment; however, this should never
