Climate During Use
The temperature range for continuous use of the product
(in dry conditions) is approx. -30 °C to +60 °C.Humidity
and icing may adversely affect the function of the device.
STORAGE, TRANSPORT, AND CLEANING
Storage
Store cool, dry, and protected from daylight outside trans-
port containers. During storage, prevent mechanic strain
by crushing, pressure or tension. Prevent contact with
chemicals (Attention: Battery acid!) or corrosives sub-
stances.
Transport
Protect the product from direct sunlight, chemicals, con-
tamination and mechanical damage. For this purpose, a
protective bag or special storage and transport containers
should be used.
Cleaning/Maintenance
Clean contaminated products in hand warm water (if
needed, add pH-balanced soap). Rinse properly. Dry at
room temperature, never in dryers or near heaters/radia-
tors! Commercial, alcohol-based (e. g. isopropanol) disin-
fectants may be used.
The joints of metal parts must be cleansed regularly and
then be lubricated with acid-free oil or a lubricant based
on Teflon or silicone.
The following maintenance work must be performed by
the operating company (owner) himself:
Screwed joints must be checked for secure tightening
weekly and be retightened to the appropriate torque with
a suitable tool if required (compare Fig. 1.2)
Lubrication: If the roller karabiners move hard, use an ac-
id-free spray-on grease applied at the snap-lock opening.
EDELRID recommends sending the product to the manu-
facturer or a partner authorized by the manufacturer for
revision at regular intervals (see Tab. 1). If you have ques-

SERVICE LIFE AND REPLACEMENT
The service life of the product mainly depends on the type
and frequency of use as well as on external influences.
When approaching the durability limits or at the end of the
maximum service life indicated, the product must be re-
moved from use. Products made of artificial fibres (poly-
amide or polyester, Dyneema®, Aramid, Vectran®) are
subject to some aging even if not used; aging mainly de-
pends on the intensity of ultraviolet radiation as well as on
climatic conditions. At the end of the useful life or latest at
the end of the maximum service life indicated, the product
must be removed from use.
Maximum service life
at optimum storage conditions (see Storage) if unused:
textile components - 14 years, karabiners and connectors
- no limit.
Maximum useful life
Providing proper use and no detectable signs of wear
showing as well as under optimum storage conditions:
textile components - 10 years, karabiners and connectors
- no limit.
Upon damage or fall loading, the PPE product must imme-
diately be removed from service and must be presented to
a skilled person or the manufacturer for scrutiny or repair.
Upon completion, the scrutiny or repair must be con-
firmed by the skilled person in writing.
Inspection
The product must be inspected and serviced as needed,
but at least once per year by the manufacturer, a compe-
tent person, or an authorised inspections agency (PPE-
Inspection).
