DESMODROMIC TIMING SYSTEM

1) Opening (or upper) rocker.
2) Opening rocker shim.

4) Closing (or lower) rocker shim.
5) Return spring for lower rocker.
6) Closing (or lower) rocker.
7) Camshaft.

Working clearance of valve tappets, with cold
engine, must be:
A)
Opening rocker
Intake:
0.05 – 0.12 mm/0.002 - 0.005 in.
Exhaust:
0.05 – 0.15 mm/0.002 - 0.006 in.
B)
Closing rocker
Intake and exhaust:
0.03 – 0.20 mm/0.001 - 0.008 in.

The working clearance of the valve tappets
is essential to preserving your bike’s
performance and engine life. Contact the Ducati
Service Centres to have valve clearance adjusted
at the recommended intervals.
