Packet Voice Processor Commands Manual
1.6.2 VoIP LEC
The Packet Voice Processor is designed for insertion within VoIP environments that
contain large end-to-end VoIP service deployments. In these VoIP environments, the
diversity of end-devices, codec formats, and network bandwidth variations result in
the need for voice quality enhancement, voice format translation, and voice quality
measurement solutions to ensure consistently high quality voice service delivery.
The VoIP LEC market may be divided into the VoIP LEC-Consumer business (for
residential voice services) and the VoIP LEC- Enterprise business (for IP Centrex
services).
1.6.3 ITSP
An Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) is a voice telephone service provider
that uses an Internet Protocol based network backbone rather than a traditional
circuit-switched network for voice or fax transport. The Packet Voice Processor is
designed for insertion within ITSP environments to provide voice quality
improvements for impairments introduced through packet transport, voice codec
operations, and environmental noise. The Packet Voice Processor corrects for both
packet loss and jitter within an ITSP environment.
displays a schematic of Packet Voice Processor placement within a ITSP
network, as well as how the VQA and IPR technologies would improve the call.

1.6.4 VoIP Wholesaler
The VoIP Wholesaler receives VoIP packets from other carriers to send to its own
Media Gateways. The VoIP Wholesaler adds services to calls that originate from and
terminate to the PSTN. The Packet Voice Processor is designed for insertion within
VoIP Wholesaler environments to transcode and normalize VoIP streams across the
backbone, reduce echo and background noise, automatically adjust level
mismatches, and enhance voice intelligibility.
