Using Telnet to get to Another Network Device
To telnet to another device, use the following commands.
NOTE: The device allows 120 Telnet sessions per minute, allowing the login and logout of 10 Telnet sessions, 12 times in a
minute. If the system reaches this non-practical limit, the Telnet service is stopped for 10 minutes. You can use console
and SSH service to access the system during downtime.
•
Telnet to a device with an IPv4 or IPv6 address.
EXEC Privilege
telnet [
ip-address
]
If you do not enter an IP address, Dell Networking OS enters a Telnet dialog that prompts you for one.
Enter an IPv4 address in dotted decimal format (A.B.C.D).
Enter an IPv6 address in the format 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000. Elision of zeros is supported.

Lock CONFIGURATION Mode
Dell Networking OS allows multiple users to make configurations at the same time. You can lock CONFIGURATION mode so that
only one user can be in CONFIGURATION mode at any time (Message 2).
You can set two types of lockst: auto and manual.
•
Set auto-lock using the
configuration mode exclusive auto
command from CONFIGURATION mode. When you set
auto-lock, every time a user is in CONFIGURATION mode, all other users are denied access. This means that you can exit to
EXEC Privilege mode, and re-enter CONFIGURATION mode without having to set the lock again.
