VMware ESXi 4.1 and later.
Modify the following two parameters in the shutdownESXi41.sh script:
•
vma_name
(the name of the vMA)
•
timeout
(the time that the operating system waits for all VMs to shut down before initiating the
ESXi host shutdown)
a
Open the shutdownESXi41.sh shell script. Refer to the left pane of the client interface window to
view the name of the VM. In this example, the parameter value of vma_name is VMA4.1
(see Figure 124).
Figure 124. vMA Name
b
Enter the following script to change the vma_name parameter from VMA to VMA4.1:
perl ghettoHostShutdown41.pl --host_operation autoquery
--vm_operation auto --timeout 2 --vma_name
"VMA4.1"
c
Open the shutdownESXi41.sh shell script.
d
Calulate the time that the operating system should wait for all VMs to shut down before initiating
the ESXi host shutdown. Each guest operating system requires a minimum of 30 seconds to
shutdown. If there are 10 VMs, the timeout should be set to 5 minutes.
Example: 10 VMs x 30 seconds = 300 seconds (5 minutes)
e
Enter the script to change the timeout parameter.
Example:
perl ghettoHostShutdown41.pl --host_operation autoquery
--vm_operation auto --timeout
5
--vma_name "VMA"
