Configuration

This section explains configuration for the Dell UPS Management Software and for the VMware server.

VMware Server Configuration

All hardware elements must have an operational network configuration that allows them to

communicate freely with each other. Dell UPS Management Software uses TCP and UDP for

communication with UPS.
To configure the VMware Server:

Confirm that the following UDP ports are opened on the ESX server firewall. Check the ports

according to the following table:

Example commands:

esxcfg-firewall -o 2198,udp,in,UPSMS
esxcfg-firewall -o 2198,udp,out,UPSMS

Confirm that the TCP 2099 port is opened on the ESX server Firewall.
Example commands:

esxcfg-firewall -o 2099,tcp,in,UPSMS
esxcfg-firewall -o 2099,tcp,out,UPSMS

If you want to disable the firewall permanently, enter the command:

chkconfig iptables stop

To disable the firewall temporarily, enter the command:

service iptables stop
