Chapter 7
NetExtender Configuration
This chapter provides information and configuration tasks specific to the NetExtender pages on
the SRA Web-based management interface.
NetExtender is an SRA client for Windows, Mac, Linux, or Android smartphone users that is
downloaded transparently and allows you to run any application securely on the company’s
network. It uses Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). NetExtender allows remote clients to have
seamless access to resources on your local network.
Users can access NetExtender two ways: Using the Net Extender button on the SRA user
portal, or by using the NetExtender standalone client, which is installed by clicking on the
NetExtender button in the SRA Web-based management interface. The NetExtender
standalone client application can be accessed directly from the Windows Start menu, from the
Application folder or dock on Mac systems, by pathname or from the shortcut bar on Linux
systems, and with the icon on Android smartphones.
On Windows systems, NetExtender supports establishing a VPN session before logging in to
Windows.
The standalone NetExtender Mobile client is available for devices running Windows Mobile 5
PocketPC and Windows Mobile 6 Professional/Classic.
The SRA appliance supports client certificates in both the standalone Windows NetExtender
client and the NetExtender Mobile client.
NetExtender supports IPv6 client connections from Windows systems running Vista or newer,
and from Linux clients. An IPv6 address pool for NetExtender is optional, while an IPv4 address
pool is necessary.
