Remove the heat sink.
a.
Remove the two securing brackets, if present, by pressing the tabs together and lifting the brackets up.
b.
Remove the memory module (see "
Removing Memory
") closest to the heat sink.
c.
Press the lever on the retention base until the heat sink is released.
d.
Gently lift the heat sink from the microprocessor.
12.
Pull the release lever straight up until the microprocessor is released, and then remove the microprocessor from the socket.

NOTICE:
Lay the heat sink down with the thermal material facing upward.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to bend any of the pins when you remove the microprocessor. Bending the pins can permanently damage the microprocessor.
