System Check–Troubleshooting 

The System Check data shown at the bottom of the screen after a System Check directs service 
personnel to follow a diagnostic path to correct the problem. The paths and the sequence of 
operations that should be followed are covered in the following pages.  
 

Primary Optical Diagnostic Routine 

Before any action can be taken to troubleshoot a failing laser, the source of the problem must be 
determined from the System Check data and a troubleshooting path charted from the flow 
diagram below. The resulting path to better the system performance could be one or both of two 
diagnostic routines, Laser Head Performance or Beam Train performance. Laser Head 
performance is checked first, logically followed by the beam train performance.
