CRS-311 1:1 Redundancy Switch
Revision 7
Modem, RMI/TMI, and Switch Configuration MN/CRS311.IOM
4–2
4.2
Modem Configuration
4.2.1 Modem Power
Connect
the
power
cords
of
each
modem
to
a
power
supply
and
turn
both
modems
ON
.
4.2.2 Modem Firmware and Hardware Requirements
For
the
CRS
‐
311
to
operate
correctly
when
configured
for
use
with
the
CDM
‐
Qx/QxL
or
SLM
‐
5650/5650A
modems,
the
Traffic
Modem
and
the
Redundant
Modem
must
be
of
the
same
model
having
identical
hardware
configurations,
equipped
with
the
same
option
modules
–
all
with
the
same
firmware
versions.
This
is
mandatory
for
the
Redundant
Modem
to
properly
mimic
operation
of
the
Traffic
Modem
upon
switchover.
CDM
‐
Qx/QxL
Firmware
and
Hardware
Requirements:
For
proper
redundant
operation,
regardless
of
data
interface,
CDM
‐
Qx/QxL
Firmware
Version
1.1.4
or
later
must
be
used.
SLM5650/5650A
Firmware
and
Hardware
Requirements:
In
order
to
support
the
desired
redundancy,
the
appropriate
firmware
must
be
loaded
in
the
SLM
‐
5650/5650A
base
modem,
Network
Processor
(if
applicable)
and
CRS
‐
311.
Higher
versions
of
the
firmware
continue
support
for
the
given
interface
(i.e.
the
highest
version
supports
all
interfaces);
the
lowest
firmware
versions,
required
to
support
a
given
interface
type,
are
as
follows:
Interface Type
SLM-5650
Base
Modem
SLM-5650A

4.2.3 Modem Operational Configuration
This
chapter
assumes
user
familiarity
with
the
individual
