Remove the system board.

CAUTION
The pins on the chips bend easily.
The notch or PIN 1 locator dot on the chip
should be inserted so that it faces toward the board slots.
Bending the pins
can make the chip unusable.
Alter insertion, carefully check that all pins
are in the socket and that none are bent or are outside of the socket.

The system boards for the COMPAQ Portable and COMPAQ PLUS are quite
different from the system board for the COMPAQ PORTABLE 286.
Take time to
become familiar with the system boards.
Pay special attention to the
different RAM bank locations and ROM locations (Figures 7.10-4 and 7.10-5).
